Imagine this: the spirituality you've been chasing for answers, the ways of self-improving, atoning for your sins, and the enlightenment you've been seeking...isn't it. Imagine if a true, wonder-filled life is actually on the other side of the parts of yourself you've been trying to redeem through self-work, meditation, and good deeds.

Imagine if this ideal self we've been taught to set our sights on, intention into reality, manifest from proper alignment with our "higher self" is just another escapist coping mechanism we've been using to avoid living in radical honesty and authentic expression. Imagine if even how we "see" authenticity is just another trap we might fall into on our search to find out "Who We Really Are."
What if we could drop the struggle and just begin to sink in, deeply in, to our actual life as a human on planet earth and find the inner freedom we'd been looking for all this time?

The Fools and Demons Cohort is meant to be the ground work of doing just that: deep, self-honest, integrative shadow work that aims to nourish our demons so that they might assist us as the allies they truly are, drop the endless cycles of finding the next thing to save us from ourselves, and initiate ourselves, willingly, into our own lives, to be lived as richly, wholly, and authentically as our deepest desire wills.​​​
The main thrust of this cohort is a supportive, open-hearted community of people doing the work together, with guidance from River through ritual self-initiation, a blend of integrative shadow work and modified chöd practices, and a mindset approach to our already existing daily lives.

We will work together for 6 months to:

develop a safe space within ourselves to once again hear our inner guidance system and real voice

actively nourish our shadow selves into wholeness

offer ourselves in the vulnerability of shared experience

find a new way of more deeply engaging with our daily lives as the great work (of art) that is our own existence

set ourselves up to be able to continue the work on our own and to step fully into the embodied experience of meeting our life in radical honesty each moment (this doesn't mean no struggle! but it does make you pretty bullet-proof in terms of meeting challenge with a lot of grace, open-heartedness, and tender receptivity to be changed and moved by these experiences)

We will:

self-initiate into our lives through a ritual designed by River -- this is mainly as a ritual commitment to say "yes" to the process we're about to engage in; life is the true initiation, but the performance does give us permission to be receptive as it comes

meet twice monthly: once for instruction/questions, once for sharing/more questions

engage in an online forum where we can relate our experiences, share our stories

This is for those who have already done work and are ready for the cessation of striving and the ability to actually enjoy the fruits of your labor. This is for those who have their sea legs, but are ready to meet the stormy seas of their own consciousness with confidence, earnestness, and love. This is for those who want to see what's on the other side of spiritual practice and meet their spiritual life.

New cohorts start in July 2025 & October 2025 and are limited to 10 people.
If it is not one of these months or the month before, membership may be closed. Feel free to join free or at another tier to be notified of first release.
In Financial Hardship?
I offer two spots per cohort to those who need it, no questions asked, at $75/mo instead of $150/mo. The reason I do not offer this to those who cannot afford $75/mo is because this work is probably going to ask too much of you while you're under-resourced.
I need to make sure the people joining are ready to potentially have a lot of things come up and be in a place to adequately handle it and even welcome it.
If you're already in survival mode, this work will be here for you when you're feeling more secure, but I do not recommend it now. The Fool's Way instruction will be much more suitably supportive for you in this time, if you do want to sink into some self-work.
Who is River?
My name is River North and I'm the devil on your shoulder, the trickster shapeshifter come to pull the rug out from beneath your feet, the thief in the shadows ready to pick your pockets clean of everything that isn't meant for you. Why would you want to carry all that extra weight anyway?
I am in service to the trickster archetype and the god of Whimsy. I sell the wares of self-liberation.​ Your lies are never safe with me, but your truths are.

I am a gentle friend with a fierceness for truth. I have incisive seeing, but warmhearted understanding. I choose enjoyment, silliness, and frivolity because this work can be mired in seriousness and mirky darkness. I am always learning, just as you. I have a way of speaking to the parts of yourself that are as of yet still unfamiliar and bringing them round the campfire to play and chat. I am anything but formulaic because this work is too wily and people are too unique to rely on systems. I am led by runic understanding, which is radical, relational, and real. I am ruled by Mercury (Odin, ha!) and it is obvious. :)
